An integrated metering solutions provider to the oil and gas sectors has doubled sales – and is set to do so again for a second year.
Aquidata XL, part of the XL Global Group based in Aberdeen, provides consultancy, software and hardware metering and measurement solutions. The business has rapidly expanded since 2020 when Mark Hamilton joined as managing director. The strategic direction of the business was reviewed and a consultancy services offering was established with Al Laughton joining as metering technical authority.
Al has more than 20 years’ experience in metering and now leads the Aquidata XL consultancy team. He has since been joined by experienced consultants Arash Aref and Jim Mathieson along with senior engineers David Evans and Lee Sinclair. The growth phase continues with further expertise being sought to meet further expansion requirements.
Metering consultancy growth and continued development of their core metering systems business has helped the company to double revenues in the last financial year – and is forecast to do the same again this year.
Mark, who has worked in metering for more than 15 years, said: “The progress made over the last two years has been fantastic, underlining the importance of adding consultancy services to Aquidata XL’s portfolio. We can now provide hardware, software and consultancy, as well as a blend of all three.
“Ultimately our clients want us to make their systems and processes compliant, accurate and more efficient, delivering a return on their investment. Adding consultancy means we now have all the tools to deliver a comprehensive integrated service and this is reflected in our ongoing successes. Aquidata XL have recently been awarded an exciting project from a new North Sea client. This will involve the design, engineering, building and installation of a full new metering supervisory system on their asset.”
Other key projects include a long-term contract delivering remote and on-site gas metering consultancy services for a client’s facility in Iraq; and upgrading metering hardware for a customer in Qatar.
“We are now working globally, winning key contracts in the Middle East and building our profile in South America, Africa and Europe,” added Mark. “Based on our forecasts for 2023 and beyond, we expect to continue investing in expanding the team and are always interested in having conversations with experienced people in this sector.”
